2026 Tollgate Summer Garden Walk Open House is CANCELED - Both 7/16 & 7/17
We have made the decision to cancel this week's Garden Walk Open House due to the forecasted heat. This cancellation is for both the Thursday July16 and the Friday Rain Date July 17.
The gardens are looking wonderful. All your hard work to get them in shape for the Open House is truly appreciated. Unfortunately, the heat index forecast is just too hot for an event.
Please reach out to any friends and family that you may have invited to let them know of this cancellation.
Going forward the Garden Volunteer Leadership will be considering alternative date options in 2027 to minimize weather impact on our event.
Garden Open House - Tollgate Farm and Education Center (msu.edu)
Visitors are welcome to wander among the many gardens tended by Tollgate volunteers. Tollgate garden areas include arboretum, children's, constructed wetlands, demo, dry river bed/shade, enabling, heritage, hosta, rain, rock ledge, rose, and xerascape. Garden volunteers will share information about the farm and gardens.
This is a free parking and free admission, rain or shine event. The evening open house will include light refreshments and hayrides. Severe weather date is Friday, July 17, 2026
Photos are encouraged. Please no grilling, no pets, and no alcohol.
The open house will include some guided walks and short talks. In past years, subjects have included prairie garden plants in the children's garden, the rain garden, beekeeping, and plant division in the hosta garden.
