Visitors are welcome to wander among the many gardens tended by Tollgate volunteers. Tollgate garden areas include arboretum, children's, constructed wetlands, demo, dry river bed/shade, enabling, heritage, hosta, rain, rock ledge, rose, and xerascape. Garden volunteers will share information about the farm and gardens.
This is a free parking and free admission, rain or shine event. The evening will include light refreshments, music by Whoa Nelly and others, hayrides, and a garden market including plants, garden-inspired arts and crafts, bird items, cards, fairy items, jewelry, pottery and wooden items.
Photos and picnicking are encouraged. Please no grilling, no pets and no alcohol.
Last year's annual open house included 30-minute guided walks at 4:15, 5 and 5:45 pm and short talks at 4:45, 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. on prairie garden plants, the rain garden and beekeeping. This year's plan is currently under development likely featuring the children's garden, the hosta garden and beekeeping.
