Annual Award Recipients

2008 Elaine Weider for handling hundreds of incoming registration checks and supplier payments, tracking expenses for future planning and contributing to the success of the annual educational conference
2007 Tonja Nudi for years of providing extensive assistance with conference registration, and for taking on the job of providing refreshments for attendees, speakers, vendors, and volunteers throughout the day
2006 Linda Lestock for recruiting, training, and placing conference volunteers and introducing volunteer orientation that resulted in well-run educational events, as well as decorating the stage for years
2005 Marilyn Catt for holding down the fort in the lobby; working the book and garden item sales table where she also helped with speaker check-in and miscellaneous questions throughout the day, giving invaluable support to the entire event with her dependability, patience, and unfailing good humor
2004 Jeanette Whiting for arranging the plant sale tent, routing traffic, teaching a class, and handling tons of trash so MGAWC is invited back to UM-D each year
2003 Amy Bruhn for creating and maintaining the database of attendees and for processing every incoming and outgoing check
2002 Margot McCormack for handling refreshments every year, having coffee ready at dawn, and feeding over 350 people snacks all day for $156.01!
2001 Glenn King for tirelessly schlepping stuff Friday night and all day Saturday to help lighten the load for vendors and volunteers
2000 Pam Kachinski for washing hundreds of pots in preparation for our late summer plant sale and helping the committee realize the importance of outsourcing

The efforts of dedicated volunteers fulfill MGAWC’s mission of education.  Thanks to these volunteers’ generous donation of time, talent, energy, expertise, out-of-pocket expenses and contacts, the Growing with Master Gardeners conference remains an affordable educational resource for community gardeners.
