Geraldine Wright
Jerry (Geraldine) Wright was a long-time Master Gardener volunteer.
She received MGAWC's
Vera Sullivan Award in 1990. She
and Jesse coordinated
Let's Go Gardening, MGAWC's annual
spring educational outreach event, for several years. They helped with plant sales,
the
Gardening in the 90s and
Growing with
Master Gardeners conferences, and served on the board. For their years of
dedicated work arranging logistics for volunteers to answer questions at local garden
centers and helping gardeners on Saturdays each May, Jerry and Jesse were the first
recipients of the Dean Krauskopf Award in 2004. They enjoyed traveling to gardens
and attending International Master Gardener Conferences.
Jerry and Jesse graduated together from high school in Canton, Ohio on VE Day, 1945.
They were married for over 63 years, had two children, one grandchild and two great
grandchildren. Beyond her volunteer work with MGAWC, Jerry was a professional dancer,
Wayne State graduate, accountant and business manager for Gargano and Associates for over
20 years. Her talent, beauty, friendship and volunteer spirit will be truly missed.
