Presenter:  Raquel Vega is a member of the board of the Ann Arbor Bonsai Society and an Advanced Master Gardener.  Raquel served six years on MGAWC's board and continues to volunteer as the organization's web master and web site administrator.  She was a volunteer with the bonsai collection at Matthaei Botanical Gardens during three of her years as an active volunteer and docent, 2003-2010.
Topic:  Introduction to Bonsai
Detail:  Discover what is involved in the art and science of bonsai.  Raquel will cover the basic principles and provide a demonstration on how to keep bonsai trees and plants alive and yet small. Also, she will identify resources for getting started as well as obtaining current information and local support.

Presenter:  Mary Spencer is excited about being the new owner and operator of Taste:  A Cook’s Place in downtown Northville, where she teaches a variety of classes for home cooks. Topics for her evening classes include tailgating, shellfish, pasta sauces, retro desserts, budget meals, holiday dinners, Chinese, Indian, Moroccan or Polish cuisine, as well as cookbook nights focusing on a particular chef or trend. A frequent presenter at garden clubs and a culinary instructor at ABC Warehouse, Mary conducts food tours, does menu planning and researches heirloom recipes.  She has been teaching cooking for 14 years including demonstrating breakfast fare, canning, cupcakes, festive desserts and holiday cookies, plus low-fat and pressure-cooking.  Mary’s goal is to make people better cooks.

Detail:  Enjoy the aromas and samples as professional culinary instructor Mary Spencer provides inspiration and instruction for dishes featuring fresh herbs.  Mary will share tips and provide recipes
